Throughout March, Women’s History Month, we honor our personal and national heroes while remembering the national celebration of women’s achievements only began not too long ago. It started in 1978 as "Women's History Day", then was championed by Gerda Lerner and the National Women's History Alliance to be recognized as a national week (1980), before growing into a month-long dedication to the women who have shaped our country in 1987.
As we celebrate Women’s History Month and International Women's Day, we celebrate the future so many great women have made possible.
The Next-Gen of Change Makers:
In addition to recognizing our moms, sisters, friends, mentors, and heroes, Women’s History Month is a time for little girls to see what they can be by learning about women, especially Black, Latina, and Asian women's legacies of shattering ceilings and breaking through barriers.
